PDP United, Will Take Power in 2027 — Turaki

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tanimu Turaki (SAN), on Wednesday dismissed claims of a faction within the party, insisting the PDP remains fully united after 29 state chairmen affirmed the authority of the National Working Committee (NWC).

Turaki made the remarks during a meeting with state chairmen in Abuja, where 29 were present and two sent apologies. He said the overwhelming turnout was clear evidence that the party’s leadership structure is intact and operating with broad support.

The new NWC, elected at the November 16 Ibadan convention with the backing of PDP governors, is currently facing resistance from allies of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike. Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu continue to claim they remain Acting National Chairman and Acting National Secretary, respectively, and recently announced a 60-day caretaker committee.

‘If 29 Chairmen Are Here, Who Is the Faction?’ — Turaki

Turaki dismissed the rival claims as hollow, stressing that the presence of nearly all state chairmen invalidates any talk of a parallel leadership.

“When 29 state chairmen are here with us, with apologies from two, who exactly is not here?” he asked. “These are the known leaders of our party. They are here physically, not virtually. So who is fighting us?”

He added that a few states currently lacking executives were dissolved earlier and will be reorganised soon.

“This shows clearly where the leadership of the PDP is,” he said. “We are the genuine, bona fide leaders of the party.”

PDP Will Reclaim Power in 2027

Turaki assured the state chairmen that the NWC is committed to rebuilding the party and returning it to the grassroots. He also took aim at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of reversing the gains recorded during PDP’s years in power.

“Today, PDP is on a new mission to reclaim Nigeria from the inept APC leadership,” he said. “Instead of taking the country forward, they have taken us backwards. Many Nigerians now beg to at least be taken back to 2015.”

He vowed that the PDP will win the 2027 elections and begin a new phase of national rebuilding.

“We will take over power by the special grace of God in 2027,” Turaki declared. “We’ve done it before, and we will do it again.”
